HayInsights — Frequently Asked Questions

HayInsights is a one-stop financial data platform that puts US, Japan and Vietnam data side by side, in clean English-language form. It covers the full top-down view, from macroeconomics down to individual tickers. HayInsights is a product of Finhay, a Vietnamese fintech founded in 2017, with offices in Hanoi and Tokyo.

Click Get Started on hayinsights.com, then Login. You can sign in with your Google account, or create an account with your name, email and a password. Many dashboards can be browsed before you sign in.

No. HayInsights runs in your web browser, with no installation or setup. The API and MCP connection also need nothing more than an API key or a one-time sign-in.

Click Subscribe Now on the Pricing page, or open User & Settings → Billing & Subscriptions in the app to see your current plan. Your new features apply right away. For the API, your plan is checked on every request, so you don't need a new API key after upgrading.

Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Refunds are not available: all subscription payments are final. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for our full terms, or email hayinsights@finhay.com.vn.

Payments go through authorized third-party payment gateways. HayInsights does not store your credit card details or bank credentials.

   Choose a chart from the menu, for example GDP Growth Rates, Core CPI, Interbank Call Rates or FDI.

Each chart comes with a data table underneath. Click a label in the chart legend to hide or show that line.

HayInsights AI is the assistant built into the app. Ask it about the US, Japan and Vietnam markets in plain language and it answers from HayInsights data. Suggested prompts such as “Gold vs S&P”, “VN-Index trend” or “Fear & Greed history” help you get started.

Yes. The Funds and ETFs pages include comparison tools. For example, you can compare the asset allocation and sector mix of several Vietnamese funds, or chart their NAV growth against the VN-Index.

Yes. Use the Change Theme toggle at the bottom of the sidebar.

   Choose CSV for the underlying data, or Image for a PNG of the chart.

CSV files open in Excel, Google Sheets or any analysis tool. PNG images paste straight into reports and slides.

Yes. Data export is part of the Pro plan ($18.99/month), which unlocks every export option for charts and tables. On the Free plan, charts and tables are view-only. Right now, though, export is open to all accounts for free as part of a limited-time promotion.

It opens the API documentation for the endpoint behind that chart. Use it when you want the same data delivered to your code automatically instead of downloading it by hand.

For regular or bulk pulls, use the HayInsights API rather than manual exports. It returns the same data as JSON, ready for your app, notebook or pipeline. See API access below.

API access with credits is included in the Pro plan. Your plan decides which data domains you can call and your per-minute quota.

   Sign in at app.hayinsights.com.

   Go to Data Management → API Key.

   Create a key. It starts with apk_ and is shown only once, so copy it to a safe place right away.

You can rotate or revoke a key on the same page. Treat it like a password: never commit it to source control or put it in client-side code.

Send your key in the X-API-Key header to the base URL https://api-v2.hayinsights.com. For example:

Every response is JSON in the same envelope: success, statusCode, data and meta. The Quickstart walks you through it in under 5 minutes.

Ten data domains across 81 endpoints: Commodities, Crypto, ETF, FX, Macro, Real Estate, News, Calendar, Market indices and Japanese Equities. Browse them all in the API docs.

Each call uses a “weight” from your plan’s per-minute budget, and heavier endpoints cost more. For example, on a 1,000-weight budget you can make about 333 Macro calls (weight 2) or 125 ETF calls (weight 8) per minute. Every response includes X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers so you can slow down before you hit the limit. See Rate limits.

When you report an issue, include the error code, the request path and the meta.timestamp. Full list: Error codes.

It is the HayInsights server for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It connects HayInsights data directly to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI agent. You ask a question in plain language and the agent answers with real numbers instead of guessing, without you opening the app.

   In Claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Customize → Connectors.

   Click Add New, then Add custom connector.

   Name it HayInsights and enter the server URL https://mcp.hayinsights.com/mcp, then click Add.

   Click Connect, log in to your HayInsights account and grant permissions.

   Start a new chat, turn on the HayInsights connector and ask for the data you need.

Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents that support the Model Context Protocol.

Yes. You sign in once through secure OAuth with your own HayInsights account, so the AI never sees your password. Access is read-only. You can disable or disconnect it at any time, in your AI client or in HayInsights.

No. Connecting the MCP server is included with your HayInsights account. The data you can reach follows your plan, so Pro unlocks more datasets than Free.

We collect data from official and established publishers, such as the Bank of Japan, Japan’s Ministry of Finance, JETRO, MLIT, the State Bank of Vietnam, the US Census Bureau and S&P Global. The full list, with methodology notes, is under Data Management → Data Sources & Methodology in the app.

It depends on the dataset. Market prices, indices and FX refresh throughout the day, and Japanese stock data is end-of-day. Macro indicators update when the official source publishes, usually monthly or quarterly, and some arrive with a lag. Each dashboard widget shows its last update time.

If a source has not published a figure, we leave it blank rather than show a zero. Some indicators are also only published for certain countries, for example only for Japan and the US.

No. HayInsights is a data provider, and all content is for informational purposes only. Nothing on the platform is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. You are responsible for your own investment decisions.

Go to User & Settings → Account & Settings in the app to view, update or correct your personal information.

Only what we need to run your account: your name, email and contact details; your subscription and billing history; and technical data such as IP address, browser type and access times, which we use to keep the site fast and secure. We never store your card details or bank credentials.

No. HayInsights does not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it only with essential service providers, such as payment processors, who are contractually bound to protect it, or when the law requires it. Your data is protected with industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption. Details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
